Team Technomag-carXpert’s first participation in a Spartan Race
The Spartan Race is a timed race against obstacles that highlights physical effort and the ability to overstep one's limits.
The race tends to be different each time on land where competitors must overcome natural or artificial barriers. The aim of organizers is to offer a unique experience in three different disciplines (Sprint, Super and Beast) each classified according to its distance and number of obstacles.
The spirit of this exercise is the "fruit of the inspiration of its 7 founders", athletes in endurance, mountaineers and former Royal Marina members, that's the origin of this concept. The first race of this kind took place in 2010 in Vermont (USA) and others now take place around the world.
For the first French edition of the Spartan Race this Sunday, there were no less than 6,000 competitors to start on the circuit Paul Ricard Castelet (83). Amongst them, some members of the Technomag car-Xpert Team also decided to embark on this adventure. Julien, Alex, Marc and Matthieu decided to take up this challenge as well as Anne-Sophie (an intern in the last season, who had a great performance finishing 129th in Sprint race).
Top athletes such as Jean Galfione - an Olympic Champion (Pole Vault) or boxer Myrian Lamare, for whom this race was an "integral part of their training programme" or simply sport enthusiasts were all eager to outperform in a good spirit.
As for results, our representatives did not let down. They all fought to the end of the race without letting go.
Marc (619th Super Spartan) : "At the beginning, there was a 10-minute warm-up with a gladiator and a guitarist, who motivates troops and spells out the rights and duties of every "Spartan" . The race starts slowly before it gets more intense and given how cold it was, there was no way of stopping! One of the most popular events was crawling in the mud even though it hurt one's elbows and knees. The last section allowed us to go around the Paul Ricard circuit and it was really nice. The last passage was a challenge against the gladiators and their staffs who really did not hesitate to push us. All in all, this was a difficult but manageable and very eventful race. This is to be done again for sure!"
Julien (Spartan Super 1552nd): " This race was meant to be a challenge with some other members of the team even though, for various reasons, we had not really had a chance to train beforehand and suddenly it proved a bit difficult. We had a great time, a lot of fun, with various obstacles (water, mud and very low temperature) and our objective was to finish, which is what we did."
Alex (Super Spartan 1642nd): "It was a great day, well organised. From the outset, we did not think about anything but the 13 kilometres that were before us to the end. Even though we did struggle a bit, it was a great experience."
Matthew (Spartan Sprint 702nd): "Going through frozen water, crawling through mud, running with a tree trunk or a bag of sand, rope climbing... it was hard and it was really cold but still very cool."
This competition is first and foremost a place of exchange, exchange of determination and support in the sport and its values. "Honour and Brotherhood are at the heart of the Spartan code".
The entire Technomag-carXpert Team congratulates Alex, Julian, Matthew, Mark, for their participation but also all competitors and organizers of this fabulous event.
