Mixed day for the Technomag-carXpert team

13.07.2013

Qualifying for the German Moto2 grand prix here in Sachsenring did not go to plan for the Swiss representation. Randy Krummenacher (14th fastest on a track where he's stared before) will start from the 5th row of the starting grid, while Dominique Aegerter, the hero of the recent Dutch GP (3rd in the race in Assen two weeks ago), will be behind his team mate with a 18th fastest time. However, it is important to draw attention to the competitiveness of the starting grid where the first 20 riders of the classification are less than one second off the pace.

Randy Krummenacher (14th): "I expected more from this qualifying session. I was pushing like crazy. Losing 0.6 seconds on pole position is not a lot but being 14th on the grid is less satisfactory. That being said, the race in Sachsenring is always long and as every year the key is to play well with the tyres. I remember very well my race 2 years ago, where I finished 4th from 18th at the end of the first lap. From the start I will have to rely on this memory; the only thing that concerns me is that we had a problem this afternoon that we had not experienced all weekend - lack of traction of the rear wheel. We will have a lot of work to do in tomorrow's warm-up."

Dominique Aegerter (18th): "I was riding half a second faster than in free practice but I had the same problems again. With the softest tyres I am able to maintain a regular pace but as we find that after 5 or 6 laps they already start to slip, it is clear that they would hardly last the entire distance of 29 laps. With the hardest tyres I suffer from chattering on the front and I simply cannot enter into corners as fast as I would like. I am really disappointed, even more on this circuit, where it is not easy to overtake. 8 tenths off the pace is a lot on such a track. But I am a fighter and the race will be different than other sessions."
