Another great performance for Aegerter (5th), Mulhauser works

03.04.2016

The second out of eighteen rounds of the Moto2 World Championship, Grand Prix of Argentina was difficult for Thomas Lüthi (Garage Plus Interwetten), the winner of the first race of the season in Qatar two weeks ago. Sunday morning's rain showers shuffled the cards and although the Moto2 race was eventually completed on slick tyres, problems with set-up did not allow Tom to fight for the podium. Nevertheless, he maintains a provisional 5-point championship lead. A big smile was, however, on the face of Dominique Aegerter (carXpert Interwetten). After a difficult qualifying on Saturday (19th fastest), "Domi" was impressive in the race making his way up to 5th position, which allows him to keep the same 5th position also in the provisional standings. The third rider of the Swiss team, Robin Mulhauser (carXpert Interwetten) finished 22nd. Frédéric Corminboeuf, the boss of the Swiss structure, draws a positive conclusion today: "Dominique had a fantastic race. His start wasn't as great as usual but the first couple of laps were a great example of aggression and control. He initially lost 7 seconds. Now of course our objective is to improve his qualifying position because he has what it takes to fight for the podium. Tom had more problems in the first laps, then he found a good rhythm doing a few laps in the same pace as the race leaders, but it was too late. He maintains his championship lead, which is the most positive and I know that we are soon going to circuits that suit him really well. Things are clear with Robin, he has to change his riding style, we ask many things and he did his job today, although it has not translated into results yet." The next race, Grand Prix of the Americas, will take place next Sunday in Austin (Texas).

Dominique Aegerter (carXpert Interwetten, 5th) "This result is definitely positive. Did we not say this winter that my objective was to finish regularly in Top-5? That's where I am! That said, I was too far on the grid to hope for more. I lost 7 seconds on the leading group on the first lap. Then I started to recover positions but the gap was too big. I was in a battle with Rins, who was very aggressive when he overtook me. It was a brave act, but that's racing. Although we got the same result as in Qatar, I know that we made a progress over the weekend compared to the first race. We could have done even better if I did not have so many problems in qualifying. Now it's Austin, a circuit that I love and if everything goes well, I will be very fast there."

Robin Mulhauser (carXpert Interwetten, 22nd) "After a bad start I had great difficulty reading the lines at the beginning of the race. Later I got into a better rhythm, I was even close to the group fighting for a fifteenth position but I never managed to join them. I continue to work a lot, I question myself, we are going to get there."
