Aegerter struggles, Krummenacher makes a comeback

08.11.2013

Two weeks after his heroic performance in the Japanese GP - a victim of a crash in the third corner, he managed to bring his bike back to the garage and take part in the second race start after a quick stop in the medical centre, where they had to fix his left shoulder - Dominique Aegerter has been struggling on this circuit close to Valencia that will welcome the last GP of the 2013 season. This race weekend also sees the comeback of Randy Krummenacher, Aegerter's teammate in the Technomag-carXpert Team, who has been slowly getting back into his form after his serious concussion that he suffered in a free practice for the British GP.

Dominique Aegerter (14th): "Physically, I definitely felt better in Japan. I was given a tight bandage this morning and I have been undergoing an electrotherapeutical treatment. Under these circumstances, it has been difficult to give it everything and improve the bike; this is like a vicious circle. Since I am not able to rider completely freely, I am not able to give the best feedback and we still have a lot of work to do for Saturday. This is not a question of one or two clicks of the fork, but rather a more complex problem of the whole geometry that we have to fix. That being said, even though I am "only" fourteenth, I am not losing more a second on the poleman and only half a second on the third fastest of the classification and that is not so bad. Monday and Tuesday after Japan I was not able to sit on my bike; but now that we are here I am ready to fight."

Randy Krummenacher (17th): "First of all I am really happy to be able to ride again, it's been a long time. This morning (14th fastest) everything went well, even though I missed the last ten minutes because I felt that I was close to my current limit and I had to make sure I avoid a crash at any cost. This afternoon was more difficult. Riding requires a lot of strength and energy; the positive thing today, however, is that I do not make mistakes anymore, which was the case during the GP that followed after my crash in Silverstone but obviously I pay the price - my average lap times. I talked with my doctor and I told him that I was feeling very tired after this first day. I am going to take a rest now and on Saturday we will make a decision, if I feel as tired as today, I will throw in the towel and will not participate in the race on Sunday. That would make no sense."
