Aegerter on fourth row, Mulhauser hits the target

09.08.2015

He would only need 21 thousands of a second to have the honour of starting from the front row of the grid for the Moto2 Grand Prix of Indianapolis this Sunday at 6:20pm Swiss time: Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) finished fourth in qualifying and impressed with his consistency on this circuit where he wasn't very happy in the past years. Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten) will start from the fourth row of the grid but with such small gaps - the rider from Rohrbach is only 5 tenths off the pole - an exciting race is guaranteed. Finally, hats off for the third rider of CGBM Evolution, the company run by Fred Corminboeuf: Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten), finished in a great 21st position and less than 1,4 seconds off the pole. It was enough to make the boss smile: "We are happy with the second row, although the front row was possible. We are always a bit closer to the top even though we still tend to take too much time on the first day to get there and we spend a part of the second day to catch up. But Tom is there. With Dominique, it is always the same story, he is not far off, we know his starts are excellent and I am sure that our two guys can do a really good race. A huge well done to Robin: we set a high objective for him, a lap in 1:37.9, knowing that Lüthi was doing 1:37.6 last year, and he did it. He can fight in a good group in the race and I expect him to finally succeed a full weekend on the same note as up till now."

They said...

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 11th): "Eleventh position is neither bad nor great. I still do not have a full confidence with my bike. I have a feeling that I am on the limit but I am not. We keep looking for solutions, we are working really hard. The race? The gaps are really small but I am still not convinced that we will see the kind of race like we often see in Moto3, a group of fifteen bikes. Slipstream is very important here and when you are behind someone you can benefit from it immediately. That being said, tires lose grip after a few laps and the key will be to know how to deal with it."

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 21st): "I am really happy looking at my ideal lap time because, unfortunately, I was not able to put my best partial times together on one lap. But the day was really positive. I only just missed out on a Top-20 start but I am interested in a fifteenth position now! My pace is good and since the two tires that we have at our disposal are very similar, meaning they both lose grip after four laps already, I think there may be some big surprises in the race."
