Aegerter impresses again, Mulhauser makes a step forward

11.07.2014

The first day of free practice for Sunday's German grand prix on the circuit of Sachsenring was successful for the two Technomag-carXpert Racing Team riders. One week after his first experience on the legendary circuit of Suzuka, riding a Suzuki 1000cc, Dominique will take part in the 8-hour race in Suzuka in two weeks, the most important race of the year in Japan. Dominique immediately got into grips with his Moto2 bike again, grabbing the 4th fastest lap time of the day. His teammate in the Swiss team, Robin Mulhauser, performed his personal best on a first day of free practice today with a 30th provisional position but only 1,733 seconds behind the fastest man of the day.

Dominique Aegerter (4th): "I have a really good feeling. Today, like in Assen (Holland), where I was in Top-5 all day, I confirmed my form straight from the beginning of the weekend. I feel good with both new and old tyres, I am the best Suter rider and everything is going well. On Saturday we will continue to work on our race pace. Coming back from Japan, I was able to relax for 3-4 days. When I sat back on my Moto2 bike this morning, I could say immediately that working with a bigger and heavier bike in Suzuka did not have any negative impact. I was where I needed to be from the start."

Robin Mulhauser (30th): "The last time I rode on the circuit of Sachsenring was four years ago with a 125cc and at that time I couldn't really say that I was a rider! This morning I needed a bit of time to put everything into place. This afternoon, on the other hand, I was very happy with my session: I improved my fastest time by 1,4 seconds and what is more important, I understood that on this circuit one has to be rather smooth than aggressive. This is a good base to work with and I know that on Saturday, if we improve by some more tenths of a second, I can jump up in the classification. It's been a while since I last enjoyed riding this much!"
