Aegerter: great first day

18.10.2013

Sixth fasters on the first day of free practice for the Australian Moto2 Grand Prix taking place on Sunday morning on the circuit of Phillip Island - lights off at 5:20am Swiss time - Dominique Aegerter, the only Technomag-carXpert rider on track on the other side of the world, had a brilliant start to the weekend. The only rider, as a decision not to replace Randy Krummenacher this weekend was taken after the crash of his Malaysian substitute in Sepang last week. This will also be the case in Motegi during the Japanese Grand Prix taking place in 10 days.

Dominique Aegerter (6th): "Things were very difficult for me this morning. We did a lot of work with the whole team and during the second session I managed to scrap 6 tenths of a second on my second fast lap compared to my best time from this morning. Now the feeling is good, even though we still have to fix a few things. I know that some of my colleagues were complaining about tyres but for me everything was working well this afternoon. Thanks to the new asphalt, although the bumps are still there in the second corner, it is a pleasure to ride here and even more than ever."

Fred Corminboeuf (team manager): "We got a permission from IRTA, the Racing Team's Association, not to replace Randy here and in Japan. In the first lap accident in Malaysia, Krummenacher's Suter MMX2 was seriously damaged and given these circumstances, we preferred not to take risks because I really want Randy to have a perfect bike for himself despite the fact that he will not be back until the final round of the championship in Valencia in November."
