Aegerter fantastic fifth, Krummenacher still struggles

15.09.2013

Finishing fifth in the GP of San Marino and la Riviera de Rimini in the moto2 category on the circuit in Misano, Dominique Aegerter scored world championship points for the twenty-eighth time in a row and by doing so he joined terribly missed Daijiro Katoh in this historical chart. Following an excellent start, once again, Aegerter was fighting the entire race distance with a compact group together with his countryman Thomas Lüthi, championship leader Scott Redding and French Johann Zarco. Randy Krummenacher was classified seventeenth.

Dominique Aegerter (5th): "I achieved my objective that I set at the beginning of the season - a Top-5 finish in every race so that is good. What's not so good is that I lost one position in the overall championship standings and that if I want to finish in the Top-5 also overall, I will need big points - podium points. I know that I can win some places on every start, I did it also today; I was fourth immediately, able to keep up with Rabat, but as soon as my battle with Redding started, we lost some meters on him. A gap was there. At the end of the race, my tyres were struggling, but I was not the only one in this situation; Lüthi was just a bit faster than me in the corners which made the difference at the end."

Randy Krummenacher (17th): "I will be back where I need to be as soon as I feel100% in terms of my physical condition. I will return immediately to Switzerland where I am going to undertake new check-ups; the big shock I suffered when I crashed in Silverstone still bears some consequences. I have pain in my back and head and don't have enough strength to expect more. On the other hand, what is positive about this race is that I've confirmed our new technical plan that we have put in place - new geometry - that works really well."
