Aegerter and Krummenacher in a good pace
The gaps remain negligible as the entire Top-20 is divided by less than one second on a circuit where the track conditions slightly deteriorated compared to last year: so is the summary of the first day of free practice for the Czech Grand Prix in Brno. On a now bumpy track, Dominique Aegerter, fourth in the current overall world championship classification, finished 9th fastest while his team mate Randy Krummenacher is recovering little by little from his injury (19th time this Friday).
Dominique Aegerter (9th): "I was faster this morning than this afternoon, which is a proof that we keep looking for the best solution. We are far from last year's lap times it is therefore necessary to get used to the new conditions before we can attack in full - that is what I am going to do on Saturday of course. I really don't know what kind of vehicles were riding in Brno the past couple of weeks but the effect is that the asphalt seems less efficient. On Saturday I definitely want to be closer to the front. My performance is consistent, which is encouraging for the race, but I know that if I don't start from a better than 10th or 12th position like last week in Indianapolis, it will be impossible for me to think about a victory. This Saturday we are therefore going to try an efficient qualifying set-up, bearing in mind the importance of a good preparation for the race."
Randy Krummenacher: (19th): "I feel better than in Indianapolis last week. This afternoon during the second session of the day I managed to collect a greater number of laps in a consistent pace and mainly I make less mistakes on brakes than in the USA. The pain in my injured hand - two fractured fingers suffered in warm-up for the German Grand Prix that required an operation - is bearable but I am still lacking my full strength. Physically, all the bad from last week is forgotten and on Saturday I will have to continue my work to find the best formula to set up my Suter."
