Aegerter (3rd) on the podium again, Mulhauser 22nd

10.08.2014

The Grand Prix of Indianapolis took place in rather extreme weather conditions - enormous heat with a high degree of humidity - and the Moto2 race was interrupted by a red flag that came while the leading group, including Dominique Aegerter was about to enter their fourth lap. A restart procedure followed with only 16 laps to be completed. In the leading group from the start, the winner of the Grand Prix of Germany finished third, for the fourth time on the podium this season after a breath-taking battle. The second rider of the Team Technomag-carXpert, Robin Mulhauser from Fribourg, finished 22nd in this race and was fighting with a group for a 17th position for a while before he had the final say in a battle with a Japanese adversary Nagashima on the final lap.

Dominique Aegerter (3rd): "We decided to opt for the hardest tyre compound and in the first part of the race I had three big moments; this was the price I paid for trying hard to stay with Kallio. For the restart we decided to go with the "soft" rear tyre, I had a good start like the first one but I was not able to keep up with the race winner. I was strong the whole weekend; I had a good pace since Friday but in the race I was finding it more difficult to set really fast lap times than during the weekend. We were missing something but I cannot say what it was. The two long straights were my weakness, I did all the work on the brakes and in corners and that was not enough for more than a third position. Was it an aerodynamic problem? Was it my riding style? We have to try to understand the problem as soon as possible because on Friday we are already back in action in Brno, in the Czech Republic."

Robin Mulhauser (22nd): "I found myself quickly in a group fighting for 17th position with some rivals that I can now call my rivals such as Terol or Rea. On the third lap I was trying to overtake Japanese rider Nagashima from the inside but I had a big moment during which I broke some of my fairing. There I lost touch with the group in front of me and was trying hard to fight back. I was stiff before I calmed down again and then German rider Folger overtook me. We fought back together a bit and I was able to get involved with Nagashima again on the final lap and this time successfully. Physically, the race was hard even though it was shortened. This was probably the hottest Grand Prix that I have ever experienced."
