Aegerter (14th) crashes out, Mulhauser disappointed with today

26.09.2015

Thomas Lüthi (Derendinger Racing Interwetten) will start as the best Swiss representative on the grid for the Grand Prix of Aragon this Sunday at 12:20 in Motorland Alcañiz. Eighth in qualifying, Tom will start from the middle of the third row. Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten) was the victim of a crash with no physical consequences and will start from the fourteenth position, while his teammate Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten) will be in 26th position after a less successful day than yesterday. “It is still the theory of a half empty and a half full glass,” explained the manager of the two teams, Frédéric Corminboeuf. “Our three riders significantly improved their personal best lap times here in Aragon but we cannot be happy only with that. If we forget about the two aliens of the day – Rabat and Rins – Tom is only 2.5 tenths of a second off the front row, which is nothing. His objective is clear: he needs to get a good start and join a good group. Dominique started his session off really well with a very quick lap time before he crashed. Then he struggled a bit to find his pace. He also could have expected at least a second row start, if everything went to plan. Robin’s day was worse than yesterday; this morning it wasn’t too bad but in qualifying he did not leave the same good impression as on Friday. I would really like to see a full strong weekend from him, not such irregularity.”

They said…

Dominique Aegerter (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 14th): “I improved my personal best lap time on this circuit of Aragon by 6 tenths; I am only 9 tenths off the impressive pole position time but it was not enough for a better position than this fifth row. I had a small crash with no consequences for me. My guys fixed the bike as fast as possible and I was able to go out again. Unfortunately I then had to do three pit stops because we tried a different set-up that did not work. The race is going to be difficult because to do this lap time I had to push really hard. The key question, however, lies elsewhere: what pace will the front guys be able to run? My final ambition will depend on the answer to this question.”

Robin Mulhauser (Technomag Racing Interwetten, 26th): “The lap time is not bad, but the position is terrible. After some problems with the shifter – the automatic gear shift – that caused my breakdown in Misano, we used another part and during the two laps, where I was behind Tom and Dominique, I realised that I was losing a few meters each time I changed the gear. We will have to analyse this carefully. I am really disappointed with my day because I know that I can do a lot better.”
